Stunning and comprehensive!

I am neither a diver nor a biologist, but I am fascinated by the amazing variety of animals that Mother Nature has created. I discovered nudibranchs a few years ago, and only recently treated myself to this terrific book. Very comprehensive, full of hundreds of stunning images of these amazing creatures. If you do a Goofle image search for nudibranchs, and want more than you can see there, this is the book to get.

This is a BEAUTIFUL textbook-sized ID book. The pictures are amazing and inspire you to embark on your own nudi-scouting adventures. It may be seem expensive but the price is well worth it when you see the number of photos and all of the information that the authors compiled. I can sit flipping through this book for hours. It's amazing!

Very good book that covers theory and experiment.

May be this is the first book for scientists in the field of (aero & mechanical) vibration. It covers brief theory of dynamic signal analysis (chapter 2), vibration concepts (chapter 3), transducer measurement considerations, digital frequency analyzer, vibration exciters, and vibration testing. However, students may find that the theory presented in chapters 2 and 3 'too brief' to understand and need to refer to other books. For (new) experimental scientiests in the field of vibration, the book is very valuable since it reveals theoretical background of vibration sensors, exciters, and their effects on speciments dynamics.

Truly a god send of a dictionary for learning

I really like this English-Vietnamese dictionary so much that I bought three more to give to each of my wife's family who have immigrated from Vietnam in the past few years. I love just looking at the pictures and then seeing both the English and Vietnamese words identifying the objects on the page by looking at the object's number below that has what it is in both languages. There are indexes in the back of the book in both languages so if you know the name of something, you can see what page it is on and find out what it is called in the other language. Very help

This is my 2nd time ordering the same book!!

My first language is vietnamese and born in the states. However, my Vietnamese is not as fluent as I wished. So I ordered the Oxford Picture Dictionary and it was sooooo helpful. I can speak read and write Vietnamese, but more at a middle school level. I still find this book very useful. There are words I don't know that I can quickly scan thought the book and get the translation to Vietnamese. The pictures are clear with old colors. LOVE this book!! The first I ordered for myself and my friend enjoyed it as much as I did so I gave it to her and ordered another for myself!

Great beginner book

Been using this book for a few days now, and i must say its a great resource. Been thru 5 chapters in random order so far. i have read a bunch of iphone os programming books and this is definitely is my top 5. Every chapter, is just broken down into intricate details. The author has done a great job in explaining complex topics that might dazzle beginner programmers and made it very presentable to the user. i know i said its a great beginners book, but there are advanced topics that are covered like implementing push notification to bluetooth or running background applications. the best part of this book is manner in which they start of the topics and break everything down into details that makes the user understand. i highly recommend this book.

I Love This Book!

4 words summed it all... " I Love This Book!".

First thing first, this book is in full colour. It is such a pleasure to read the colour codes and the screen shot printings look amazing. This is also the best format layout I have ever seen in all the programming books I ever read. Great job!

It is not easy to learn iOS 4 programming if you are a a beginner. The appendices provide a good start to Objective C, Interface Builder and Xcode before you jump into the real stuff.

I spent the last couple of days going through the advance chapters and particularly like Part 4 which talk about web services integration and Push Notification Service. It is such a breeze reading and practising the exercises on my Mac. Thank you very much for the hard work in authoring this book.

I recommend this book - even though it's not Xcode 4

I started using this book immediately after installing iOS 4.3 and Xcode 4. The book is written using Xcode 3. So it took me a few days to understand how to use this book with the new environment. However, since there are no books at this time that cover Xcode 4, I decided to tough it out with this book.

Once I got use to Xcode 4 though, I found the exercises in the book work just fine. I'm enjoying going through the exercises as I learn about each type of control. I found that I had to reread an earlier section to find out something that he did not repeat in a later section but again, afterwhile the process of creating an app (using the File's Owner as an example) becomes second nature.

This should not be your only book but definitely one of the first you work with.

I also recommend opening up the online library documentation that comes with Xcode 4 Organizer and read about each control as you do an exercise from the book. This will help round out your knowledge about Cocoa beyond the text in the book. I found the [...] forum to be helpful. Also, Stanford University (via iTunes U) has recorded lectures from a recent iPhone development class taught by Apple instructors that are a good supplement to mastering the language, environment and best practices.

Really is true what they say about books being a youngster's key to this big old world (including this fantasy world!)

Had begun a little early Christmas shopping at the beginning of November, when I stumbled upon this nice complete set of the 7-book Harry Potter series and began reading the reviews. I almost developed carpal tunnel syndrome from clicking those "helpful" buttons! Wow - so many amazing reviews here on Amazon. I haven't had my old head in the sand these past 15 years, which would just about have to be the case not to have heard of extremely talented author J. K. Rowling and the wonderful fantasy book series she spent a decade - 1997-2007 - creating, the eight movies stemming from the series that were released between 2001-2011 (the final book made for a "2-parter" in 2010 and 2011), young wizard Harry and his friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger (all students at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy), and his endeavors to defeat the evil wizard Lord Voldemort! As soon as I saw it, I called our daughter-in-law to see if she thought our oldest grandson (who'll be 8 next April) might enjoy this as one of his Christmas gifts - she said she knew he'd seen one of the DVDs (wasn't sure which one) and really enjoyed it, but after perusing probably a couple of hundred reviews, I was completely sold and immediately clicked that "Add to Cart" button (it was the last click I had energy for!)

Since this listing's info section gives you a list of the included books and good general info, and there are so many of the reviews that are even better, beautifully going into some of the particulars, I wondered what else can I possibly add, other than some grandmotherly advice... whether it's Harry Potter or any of the other terrific children's book series that are out there, do what you can to get that first book into their hands! Even if you need one of the DVDs to spark their interest, introducing your youngster to a well-written book series is one of the best decisions you'll ever make! I recall fondly a Christmas when I myself was 8... I wanted Barbie and Ken dolls, and had my fingers crossed for the Barbie Dream House (wasn't even particular about whether it was one of the older cardboard models, or one of the new fandangled plastic ones!) I ended up with Skipper (Barbie was a bit too well-endowed for my father's liking), some pajamas and a copy of Louisa May Alcott's "Little Women". A book? Who wants a book when you could've had a Dream House? In protest, I didn't touch it until my younger sibs and I were punished one day the following summer by being sent to our rooms for the afternoon so my frazzled mother could have some peace. Opened the book, and suffice it to say that it was hard to pull me away from it when the family dinner hour arrived! Must've re-read it three or four times that summer, it was followed by Ms. Alcott's "Little Men" and "Jo's Boys", and by Christmas, the top of my wish list simply read, "BOOKS"! Numerous book series would follow and totally entrance me, and I can't thank my parents enough for giving me an opportunity to discover the joy of reading.

Just so excited about the prospect of handing this series to our grandson this year. He always loved our lunchtime reads of Dr. Seuss, etc. during the five years I spent babysitting him, but he's a big-time second grader now, ready for "meatier" fare. Really looking forward to hearing his periodic updates on the adventures he's reading about!

I truly love the Harry Potter books

I truly love the Harry Potter books! I started reading them right before the 1st movie was released and have watched every movie and read every book several times through. I made the mistake awhile back of letting someone borrow my books and I was never able to get them back. Lesson learned...never let someone borrow a part of your heart.
This semester I have the pleasure of taking a class"Hogwarts School of Leadership" that is learning about leadership by using the Harry Potter books and movies for examples and reference. It was a great excuse to have to spend the money to get the books again and not feel guilty about it when my money could be better spent elsewhere. I mean I have read the books already like 5 times. I had the books downloaded on my Nook, but still a great excuse to have the paper copies so I could more easily flip through the pages as needed.
If you haven't already read these books you are so missing out!
I was even more excited when I pulled these books out of the shipping packaging and they were all US 1st edition prints. The spine on the first book was broken, but I knew that when I purchased these. Beside that all the books are in great condition, and have the sleeves included. They look as if they have hardly been read before.

This book changed everything: the way I see my mother and her struggles, the way being left along can affect a young person, and overall the aspect of overcoming a struggle. Reyna Grande is extremely vivd and gives specific detail as to her life in this book. Every single chapter I read felt like I was there; I was in the same spot as her (which at some points I have been). It's given me the chance to truly open my eyes, because unlike her, I have the title of American on my name, and that title gives me so much privilege. I can go on and on as to why evert single school in California should read this. congress men/women should read this to understand what immigrants really go through. This book has also inspired me to keep on reading more and more, as well as continue my higher education.

reading this book was like looking into her soul

I live in New Mexico. i seen the flight of Mexican immigrants for years. reading this book was like looking into her soul. I felt a sadness just knowing the life she had to endure and how she was put down at a young age simply because her parents were in the states. it was sad,and she and her siblings were strong and stood by each other with courage and conviction, I highly recommend this to all. it's an amazingly true and honest memoir. I truly believe we as a nation are missing out on an opportunity to legally bring these immigrants to the states to work and earn an honest living. Way to go Reyna your book was Awesome. I can't wait to hear you speak and I hope to meet you at San Juan college on the 29th of September.

Loved it!

I'm never disappointed with an MJ Duncan novel. And I surely was not with this latest. I thought it was a great love story. Of course the angsty meet-cute in the beginning was perfect how it set the tone for the rest of the novel. I had an especially visceral reaction to Bryn's parents, but then again who wouldn't? I liked seeing the changes in Bryn and her relationship with Anna. I loved that the story pointed out how you only needed that one person to help you find true happiness and not settle for anything less. Anna does that for Bryn time and again even though Bryn screws up spectacularly, and at that point I wanted to smack th crap out of Bryn and yell at her to get her head out of her ass! So all in all the characters were nicely written and the story had a great flow. And I loved watching the budding relationship between the two main protagonists.

First of all, reading Bryn's character touched me. Her doubt, struggle with her sense of self, and her nervousness around others really hit home for me. I guess The author captures the feeling quite well which stands out in sharp contrast to the romantic interest, Anna, who has the most simplistic, cliché ridden dialogue possible. The book bounced from deep, emotional issues to which I could relate, a character of complexity, talking to a 1st grader.

I have to start off by saying that Veritas is one of my favorite books so when I saw Spectum was released I didn't hesitate to 1-click. This was a good read. I can't tell you how many times when Anna and Bryn's relationship was building I was almost yelling at my Kindle "JUST KISS". When they finally did it was worth the wait! There were a few things that bothered me with this book. Sometimes I felt there was more description than necessary when describing a scene or the wine making process. I understand wanting the reading to be able to picture the scene, it was just more than I am used to in books. I found myself skimming those parts wanting to get back to what was happening with Anna and Bryn. Also sometimes I would lose what character's point of view the story was coming from. Not a biggie I would just go back and get my bearings and move on. Definitely recommend all of MJ's books.

I just start using the book, but I think ...

I just start using the book, but I think it will help you to improve your Russian. It's a pity there is no cd or dvd includes, although the price of the book is extremely high, but you have to use the internet site for listening mp3 or watching video. A lot of exercises, referring to sound and video files you cann'n make without internet. The book gives a wide range teksts, grammar, exercises and commands for the improvement of the writing and speaking. But you always need internet connection to study.

Finally, a textbook which helps learners project their academic identity while speaking Russian!

Not just timely, but a much-needed and a long-overdue textbook! I used it for teaching RUSS 411 last spring semester, and I will happily use it again for both RUSS 411 & 412. The textbook is very useful for working with both heritage speakers of Russian and non-native learners. Both categories get to know tons of useful information about today's life in Russia (the book is also supported by online components, including authentic videos) and learn to project their academic identity while communicating in Russian (which has been always a problem even with the most fluent heritage speakers.). At the same time, readers are exposed to the raw authentic conversational language and thus get prepared for functioning in the real life.

Among the features especially appreciated by students are an e-version of the book (less costly) and the Russian-English vocabulary in each chapter as well in the end of the book. The grammar charts that come in the appendix are also very valuable.

I believe that anyone who successfully masters the grammatical and lexical information presented by the book, along with its country-knowledge content, will be able to communicate in the contemporary Russian of well-educated people and successfully use the Russian-speaking mass media for any professional purpose. Therefore, I highly recommend this book to all Russian-teaching colleagues as well as independent intermediate-to-advanced learners of Russian.

I LOVED RYAN!

First, I loved Lietha's "The Doctor and the Assassin" book. My favorite character of all time was Nick Castile, so I was looking for another book that had Nick's characters as the leading men. I took a chance on Retribution,. And wouldn't you know it -- Ryan was a really close second to Nick as far as his characteristics, looks, etc. I really got into this book. (Spoiler alert): close to the end of the book, Lietha actually did bring back Nick and his brother for a short time! Fantastic! Comes to find out, they (Nick and Ryan) worked together in the past. I loved it! It has lots of action, and romance. Keep up the good work Lietha! Write about more characters like Nick and Ryan! I'll be purchasing those books!

Wonderful story! Action, mystery and romance. Oh my!!

The hero is hot, a well oiled "machine" of a man who comes to realize that he is human after all and that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. The heroine is a strong woman, who has been neglected and betrayed by the ones who should love her the most.

This story is action packed, a flair of mystery and many twists and turns. There are some hot love scenes too! They save each other in different ways, but you have to read the story to find out how. You won't be disappointed

Great characters, great storyline. I loved the surprise tie-in with another book...I won't spoil it :). Good HEA and great alpha male! I only wish the epilogue was further in the future to give you a taste but what was said was good.
