Mulukutla S. Sarma is the author of numerous technical articles published in leading journals, including the first studies of methods for computer-aided analysis of three-dimensional nonlinear electromagnetic field problems as applied to the design of electrical machinery. Dr. Sarma is a Life-Fellow of IEEE (USA), a Fellow of IEE (UK) and IEE (INDIA), a reviewer of several IEEE Transactions, a member of the IEEE Rotating Machinery Committee, and a member of several other professional societies. He is also a Professional Engineer in the State of Massachusetts.

Electrical Engineering - Power Conversion Book

This book was published in 1994. I guess not much has changed since then. It is not a very good read, but the homework questions are pretty straight forward.

Not bad, but not good either

I have this book, and have read it. At the university I give lectures in dynamics of electrical machines. For the students it is the first time they expirience electrical machines. A problem you always face is what is a good book on electrical machines? I know from expirience that the perfect book propperly will never exist. In this book, I must say, there are some very good explanations on how the different motors work and their dynamics. However, for long pasages it is _not_ clear what the aim is. For a person already knowing electrical machines, it is interesting to talk about motor-windings in a general way, but if want to learn how the basic motors as a DC_motor, a induction motor and a synchronous motor works, it is nescessary to explain electromechanical energy convertion first and then attack each of the motors individually. This is where this book fails. It is a mess with some good parts inside.
